Playoffs Round 2! FIGHT!

I'm watching my guy Wittman's Wizards hang with the Hawks! I forgot to post my predictions. I was good in the first round. More details later this week.

I had Wizards in 6

Bulls in 6

Clippers in 7 (If CP3 is healthy enough to play)

Warriors in 7 (If Conley only misses a game)

Now it gets a little tougher to predict, with hopefully some longer serieseseses. I'm not overly confident in any of these picks, which are very different from FatSax

Hawks in 6 - This is basically the equivalent of a Spurs/Wolves playoff series in the West. "Modern" "spacing" vs Flip Saunders. (Don't nitpick, you know what I mean). The Wizards will have to succeed despite the system. They just might.

Cavs in 6 - Just too much talent on the Cavs. The League will want them to win and they probably will. Eager to see the Cavs take on a real opponent.

Rockets in 6 - Who knows here. On one hand, vintage Dwight joined the playoffs and Beard is Beard. On the other, the Clips just knocked down the champs. Paul's injury is going to be the key of course. I just really don't like the Clippers and the constant bitching and entitlement. It's sort of like my view of Flip: if he would have his team shoot more 3's than long 2's my view on him would change entirely even if that is a stupid viewpoint. In Doc's case, if he would skip the middle school girl whining routine (which permeates to Barnes, Jordan, Paul, Griffin. and Autism Rivers), I would probably quite like the Clippers.

Warriors in 6 - I don't think Conley coming back will make this much easier for the Grizz. Warriors are just on another level as a team. Impossible to see them folding now unless an injury occurs.

Yea, any sane person would predict Warriors in four. I don't like them because I hate bandwagoning and I love the Grizzle. So I'll change my pick to Grizzle in 5. I hope Draymond has a sudden change of heart and quits basketball tomorrow to take up a career as a Broadway actor. Then the Grind House has a chance. Well...maybe it's still a sweep. Hopefully he brings Bogut with him.

Good call Daddy, hear are my calls (in order of my interest level in watching this series):

Wizards in 6. I bet on this too before the series started, so I'm not just switching cuz of Game 1. Anyway, I like Pierce, Wall, and Gortat a lot. I fux with this team. People are saying Wittman has been coaching well this postseason too. Which I agree sounds ridiculous. I wish I could remember some of the funny tweets I read yesterday about Wittman's postseason coaching compared with his regular season coaching. Anyway, the Hawks looks like trash against an unemotional, uninspired, washed up, non-competing (for the most part) Nets team. That, and the way The Wiz crushed Toronto, was enough to get me to turn my original prediction and pick The Wiz to win this one.

Warriors in 5. I love watching The Grizz grind wins, but Golden State just seems to have an answer for everything right now. I initially thought The Bay could and would be beat by a team like the Spurs, but now I feel like the Clippers are the only team in the West that can give them a run, and even then I think it's doubtful, as the Warriors are so deep and the Clips are so NOT. Anyway, without Conley the Grizz offense just can't keep up. I think they will slow G State down, especially in Memphis, but I see them splitting in Memphis and not winning in Cali. I hope I'm wrong, I would love to see a tightly fought 7 game series between these 2 squads.

Rockets in 7. I feel like anything could happen in this series. This one is hard to predict. According to the Sportsbook, Houston is a slight favorite. They looked pretty great in round #1, but that Mavs team was quite flawed and not to be taken seriously. Howard and Harden is quite the 1-2 combo, and this team seems to have guys who know their role. But man they are thin up front. I still don't fully trust the Clippers though. I don't know, this is a tough call, I'm probably just leaning Houston cuz I want them to win honestly. I might bet Clippers with their underdog odds in the series before it begins tonight.

Cavs in 7. Isn't this really the only must watch series in the whole Eastern Conference playoffs this year? This is the championship. I'm worried the Bulls are still too hit and miss to pull it off though. Man I hope I'm wrong. Of any series, this is the one where I would LOVE to see the upset pulled off. I fully anticipate JoNo, Butler, Gibson, and Rose getting in these guys grill and fighting until the end. Man, it would be awesome if the Bulls could win this series! Jimmy Butler is the breakout star of the playoffs so far (ala Kawai last year). I honestly don't think losing Love hurts Cleveland too much. Should be a great series to watch.

Good thoughts. I wasn't really thinking about the Raptors series, but I'm not sure that means the Wizards are in the clear. The Raptors are in a weird spot. They sort of stumbled into this "decent team" thing when they were trying to tank, and yet.... they still really aren't a very good team. People always talk about who "the next Suns" are but I would say the Suns, Raptors (along with the Pelicans, and the KG-era Wolves) are the exact same thing: a team of overachievers with talent limitations and no way to add more talent. It isn't a good place to be. The Suns had a nice little two year regular-season run but now they are quietly in a pretty rough spot: they landed slightly above where the Wolves would have been if they had perfect health, lost their best player, and they also traded that Lakers pick for an upcoming free agent. While the Suns certainly have a cache of trade assets, watching situations like that unfold is really the only thing keeping me optimistic about the Wolves, that Flip's "strive for mediocrity" plan had to be cancelled within 90 days and now Portzingis is all ours.

On the Warriors, their offseason will be interesting. Will they be able to keep Green? I hope they do. Just pay the damn tax for ONE SEASON to avoid a Thunder/Harden-like fate. I agree with the anti-bandwagoning sentiments. The Twitter ballwashing of the Warriors, Hawks, and Gregg Popovich is a bit stale. The first round lacked a notable upset and these playoffs are in need of one in round two so of course I would love to see the Grizz come out on top and ESPECIALLY the Bulls. I would have loved to see LeBron and Love lose in the 2nd round. LeBron will hopefully do I guess. Cleveland is still an artificial sideshow to me.

What in the hell is everyone smoking with the Cavs??!?! You'll see how much they'll miss Bonkin Love. That team is good, but not good enough to win anything. I got the Bulls! Jimmy Butler is the GOAT.

I cannot stand bandwagoners. F uck the Warriors. Can any team even win ONE game against them!??! F UUUUUCK. Grind house. Steal one please. Beat em up. Shyt.

Last night was one of the few times I have even watched the Cavs all year. They looked very vulnerable and thinner than I had expected. Mike Miller started. JR Smith was out but Im not sure him being back is going to be much of a game changer.

Clips. Slight respect. For all I bash the Clippers, the Rockets are very difficult to like as well (we have discussed this before). I wish one of those teams were playing (and losing to) Memphis instead to prolong their run. HOU came in just expecting a win by default. While their offense is innovative/ "modern" that team did nothing down the stretch but have poor shooters jack up 3's with zero ball movement. It was a game of NBA 2K. When down single digits the plan was for Corey Brewer (respect to Brew, but he ain't Kyle Korver) and Josh Smith to fire at will. They went 1-10 combined from 3. Brick, brick, brick, brick.....

Lastly, on the Clips/Rockets....there was a solid 15 terrible minutes of replays/timeouts followed by a two way hack a Dwight/hack a Jordan. The end of that game was a nightmare in terms of viewership. Rules is rules and a player needs to hit free throws, but is there something the league could or should do about this? I had to shut the damn thing off.

Oh man that Clips Rockets joint was terrible to watch. The Clippers finally adjusted to not having CP3 in the second half and then looked like the team that just played the Spurs rather than the Mavericks. THAT, is the difference here. It might take the Rockets a couple games to sharpen themselves against a real playoff team. They might as well have played the Timberwolves in the first round, Dallas collapsed so hard.

How can you not respect the hell out of Griffin after watching how he is playing? That man is the best big in the playoffs, easily.

Nothing made me happier than to see the Cavs get destroyed. Their spacing was terrible and the Bulls just clogged the lane with both bigs. It was glorious. They better max K Love now. Blatt needs to play Lebron in the front court with MozGod and put Shump and JR Smith (when he returns) on the wings together. Then the Bulls will have a hard time keeping up. That lineup will be very hard to match.

Griffin has been amazing, it's true. Watching the Cavs lose was great. What is LeBron's deal, it seems like it's been this way all season. Like he is playing at 80%. Like he's not fully engaged on every play. Like he is passive and not aggressive enough on O and unfocused and not giving a good effort on D. This is why he should not have been a Top 3 MVP guy this year. Is it his attitude or is he just trying to master the "turn it on when you need to" or what? Either way, they are going to get bounced in the next 10 days if he doesn't turn it up significantly.

How about last night?? Hawks/Wiz who cares. The Hawks are the least entertaining playoff team and it's not even close. All the "unfair" criticisims they received in the regular season are absolutely true. They will lose to the Wiz this series.

MEMPHIS! Trick or Treat The Grindfather 1st Team All D Allen! How about him yelling "1st Team" all night...what a stud. Conley was fantastic. Gasol continues to do everything well. That was a fun watch. Every favorite has laid an egg in this round, losing at home in not even close fashion in one of the 1st two games. Interesting. I like it.

Tony Allen. After this playoffs I have vaulted him into the DFS All time favorites second team. He joins Kidd, Brewer, Rodman, and Hakeem. First team (if you cared) is The Glove, Artest, Pippen, KG, Sheed. Third team is Sam Cassell, MJ, Pierce, Shawn Kemp, and Dikembe/Ben Wallace (can't ever decide).

I cannot wait for the Cavs to keep losing. So few of their players make me feel what I feel when Brewer drives coast to coast out of control for a charge. JR Smith, maybe Shump. Nobody else. I think Kevin Love might actually be my third favorite player on that team! that is how whack they are to me.

P.S. Imagine your favorite player playing against my first team? Jesus. Just a nightmare.

The fatsax all favorite teams are shockingly devoid of novelty players. Only Brewer really.. Get after it.

Also - Did Green hit Conley in the face on purpose? I say yes.

The Cavs are a terribly built TEAM. Agree with sentiments, and with Bonk's analysis of LeBron all season. It is very bizarre.
